ora! %$firstname$%,
Welcome to the first edition of ‘Wholistic’ –
Quarterly Insights into the world of Holistic Health.
Cripes almighty .. Welcome to 2008!!
At the beginning of each year, I’m happy…. but then
groan a bit about having to put that extra energy in to motivate
myself to have an even better year than the one before. I quite
enjoyed 2007 and didn’t want it to end. Then after a day
or so I find it boring not putting the energy in. I think it’s
ultimately harder to not be enthused about the future, at first
it appears easier, but that’s simply to trick you. So I
decided to lift the chin up, plump the cheeks up with a smile
and get funky with 2008. I’ve been wonderfully exhausted
since!
On boxing day this year my visa in the United Kingdom will be
coming to an end. That used to scare me, but being scared was
exhausting. So I now happily throw it to the wind and shall enjoy
seeing just where that takes me! Yes, I think that is my New Years
Resolution: having faith in that wind. Release, relax, surrender,
take it easy, have fun and let go .. it is a year to be enjoyed!
What are you going to do this year? A friend of mine who is sadly
near blind to a bat (a very nice guy though) has stated that he
is trying for 20/20 vision by the end of the year. He is doing
daily eye exercises and reading up about nutrition and herbs ..
and whatever anyone else says about regaining eyesight naturally.
Please feel free to email me any of your resolutions, I’d
love to hear them!
Go on - Try a few things!
To give you some ideas this quarter we bring to you insights into
the world of cleaning out your colon …. yes, you did hear
me. Also included is a nutritional treasure from my holiday in
Morocco, the new Olive oil, a June Greek Health Retreat Week I’m
involved in and a wee story from my time at the laundromat.
So please, please enjoy the energy of a fresh New Year.. remember
2008 is THE year to be enjoyed! I’ll see you again around
Easter time – I’m off to Switzerland now actually
to research healthy chocolate or rather, skiing I mean!
So do enjoy …
(Can you make this your best year yet?? It is entirely up to you!!)

A Short Story - At the Laundromat
| Just
before New Years I found myself in the local Laundromat. As
it had been closed for the Xmas break the whole village was
in there doing their washing. Whilst waiting for a dryer to
become free two women were having a discussion about their
health problems. I listened in……
One was saying that she had been wrongly diagnosed with Lung
Cancer, had been placed on an intensive course of antibiotics
and drugs, had surgery and three big scars to show for it
too. Her four children and husband were also suffering badly.
She said she continued to feel so bad and felt odd about accepting
her fate. When she pushed for a second opinion her Doctor
felt disrespected and dismissed her. This woman continued
to say “not once have I been given one single
vitamin or any nutrition.”
The X-ray from her second opinion infact showed Tuberculosis.
The last six weeks she had been knocked out by a virus. She
said she was too scared to go to the Doctors anymore, she
didn’t know who to turn to.
They continued on about what they had seen on the ‘Good
Morning’ TV show about a new virus that a Doctor said
“if you haven’t had it yet, mark my words you
will have it by the New Year.”
The other woman replied that she basically did not have an
immune system. She is also continuously on steroids. As it
is a virus she was frightened as antibiotics could do nothing
for her.
As these women began to talk of their fears they were getting
increasingly panicky, feeding each others hysteria and when
they said .....
“what on earth can you take to help prevent a virus
from getting you?”
- I couldn’t listen anymore!
“Echinacea!” I said. “Have you heard of
Echinacea?
…. And St Johns Wort is anti-viral too.” I didn’t
want to jump in as I respect that everybody has a choice to
their treatment but it was getting all too much for me. “Vitamin
C megadoses and Zinc too.” They were actually listening
to me. Complete 100% attention. These were two women desperate
for answers.
Before I knew it I was writing out prescriptions for them
there in the Laundromat! (I was explaining that I was a final
year student in Natural Medicine but they didn’t care).
I also recommended to them the book I had with me: “Left
for Dead” by Dick Quinn as they were desperate
for answers and I think it is the very best introduction for
someone wishing for a wider view point.
The woman with the wrongly diagnosed lung cancer instinctively
knew that something wasn't right as she was mentioning that
she received no nutritional advice as part of her treatment
plan - it was pure pharmaceuticals, "not one single vitamin"
she did say.
Soon a husband arrived who was also interested. A keen gardener
he had a Herb book at home and was interested in tackling
insomnia.
These meetings had a strong impact on me. I think everyone
has periods when they doubt themselves, sometimes I wonder
why I'm doing all this. When leaving the Laundromat this day
I felt so pleased and proud to be part of a new generation
educating those about their health. It has given me great
energy to continue down the road I have already started and
to finish up my studies by August.
It also reaffirmed that it is now time for everybody to stand
up and take responsibility for your own
health. Get interested in it! It is good fun!! Ask
for an alternative point of view - how would it have
been treated in days gone by without the pharmaceutical industry?
It is your right to choose your treatment!
Dick Quinn: "You make the health decisions
because you're doing the dying, and when you die, you die
alone".
Gone are the days of relying on buckling health systems that
simply cannot take the strain and do not have all the answers.
I do not mean disrespect to mainstream Doctors but people
need to create their own Network of Health professionals and
have access to the best healthcare so they can make informed
decisions as to how they wish to be treated.
I'll
leave you with another quote from Dick Quinn's book (Left
for Dead):
"A Healthy Population means a dead Pharmaceutical
Industry" - Hans Reesch

to remove deep-rooted blocks of negative/stagnant energy that
are the root-cause of different diseases of the physical body.
Psychic surgery is an energy technique that is quite different

Product Review - The Arrival of the Argan.
It
has been hailed as the new Olive oil – exclusively grown
in South West Morocco in scorching 45+ degree dry desert heat,
comes the exceptional Argan Tree (Argania
spinosa).
The oil is nutty, delicious and nutritious in flavour
- richer in Vitamin E, Antioxidant status and essential fats too
and due to its remarkable characteristics, doesn’t oxidise
like Olive oil does.
Argan
grows to 8-10 metres high, and live to 150-200 years old. They
are gorgeous trees - thorny, with gnarled trunks. They are pure
magic, they stand alone in the intense desert heat where nothing
else could possibly grow. Intriguingly the goats that climb their
branches play a major role in the Argan Oil production - for the
pulp of argan fruits is incredibly difficult to crush, but which
is broken down via their stomach acid and then the undigested
seeds are shed in the goats faeces!!
(Often modern day production excludes this traditional
process!)
I
discovered this oil when arriving at a clients house in London
to give them a massage, I had fortgotten my massage oil. Whilst
the client was busy I sneaked into the kitchen to search for some
olive oil as a substitute. There lay the most intriguing bottle
with an amber oil contained inside. It smelled amazing. Upon grabbing
it and carrying it up the stairs the butler saw me and scolded
me for taking such a precious and expensive oil from Morocco.
The oil intrigues me ever since!!
It
was very difficult to buy the oil outside Morocco, but since 2001-2002
argan oil suddenly became a fashionable food
and superfood . It is now often available in specialist
shops.
The
oil contains 80% unsaturated fatty acids, is rich in essential
fatty acids. Argan oil is used for dipping bread, on couscous,
salads and similar uses. A dip for bread known as amlou
is made from argan oil, almonds and peanuts, sweetened by honey
or sugar.
Personally
it is as a skin nutrient that Argan oil really grabs me. The unroasted
oil is traditionally used as a treatment for skin diseases, and
has recently found favour with European cosmetics manufacturers.
There has been research into argan oil's viability in the treatment
of psoriasis with promising results.
When
you next find yourself in Marrkech:
marrakech
go to visit a recently opened place : Earth cafe in marrakech
, it's a nice cafe located in a riad - traditional house - in
the old medina, very calm and with a beautifull typical decoration.
it's runned by an master chef that work in sydney-australia &
los angeles - USA, the menu is excellent and drinks also. They
are the unique restaurant-cafe in the town offereing menu made
with natural ingredients.
Arganica shop is located in the cafe and offers a large range
of natural cosmetics and items for SPA and hammam : argan oil,
ghassoul, henna, black soap, essential oils,...etc
and also ntural products for eating : olive oil, argan oil, with
specials prepared by the chief that you can eat and buy : assortmets,
marmelades, preserves, sauces, ingredients,...etc. It's an ideal
place to buy gigts, they have lovely hand made packaging typically
decorated with traditional morrocan designs
